Zimbabwean government lifts ban on chromium ore, fines exports

The Minerals Marketing Corporation of Zimbabwe says the government has lifted the ban on chromium ore and chromium fines exports in a move intended to combat unregulated sales, encourage value addition (beneficiation?) and help miners re-equip with new machinery. The lifting of the ban will last for eighteen months, commencing 1 November 2009, before being reviewed. It is the government’s understanding that miners could pledge their chromium for mining machinery. Announcement forwarded by Eti Krom to ICDA Secretariat, 2 November 2009.
